God Believes In Us

A good friend of mine emails these very encouraging quotes on a daily basis. One day last week, she emailed the quote:

“Man often becomes what he believes himself to be. If I keep on saying to myself that I cannot do a certain thing, it is possible that I may end by really becoming incapable of doing it. On the contrary, if I have the belief that I can do it, I shall surely acquire the capacity to do it even if I may not have it at the beginning.” – Mahatma Gandhi

Very powerful words, right? And what a reminder of the power of words & what we speak into our lives. We must speak life into ourselves, those around us, & into the dreams, etc. that we may have.

In response to this quote, a friend of mine wrote me back after I sent it to her. Her response was, “How great it is to know that God believes in us.” I was surprised by her response, as I didn’t initially view the quote this way, but as I began to ponder on it & the further meanings it could have, this became apparent.

Most times, we don’t think about how much God truly believes in us. We know & think about how much He loves us (He gave His son, Jesus, to die for our sins), but do we focus on how much God believes in us to?

He’s instilled gifts, talents, knowledge, & so much more into us; these various elements are to glorify Him. He loves us enough to equip us with so much to do on His behalf; so He has to believe in us in order for us to use these gifts. It’s amazing how God sees us, even when we don’t see ourselves this way. We have an amazing Father!

So in the midst of all my deep thoughts & prayers regarding how much God believes in me, further confirmation was received. My friend sent another quote (unbeknown to her my thoughts on the first quote). The next quote/thought was the following:

God is Cheering for You – Max Lucado

If your God is Mighty enough to ignite the sun, could it be that He is mighty enough to light your path?

God is for you. Not “may be,” not “has been,” not “was,” not “would be,” but “God is!” He is for you. Today! At this hour! At this minute! As you read this sentence. No need to wait in line or come back tomorrow. He is with you. He could not be closer than He is at this second. His loyalty won’t increase if you are better nor lessen if you are worse. He is for you.

God is for you. Turn to the sidelines; that’s God cheering your run. Look past the finish line; that’s God applauding your steps. Listen for Him in the bleachers shouting your name. Too tired to continue? He’ll carry you. Too discouraged to fight? He’s picking you up. God is for you. God is for you. Had He a calendar – your birthday would be circled. If He drove a car – your name would be on His bumper. If there’s a tree in heaven, He’s carved your name in the bark. We know He has a tattoo, and we know what it says. “I have written your name on my hand,” He declares…

My goodness! Not only does God believe in us, He’s cheering us on! He’s continuously in our corner, being our #1 cheerleader. He loves us just that much.

Be encouraged my friends; don’t let something or someone else tell you differently about how God feels about you. Do you believe in yourself & what He’s given you? Who He sees you to be & who you’re becoming? He loves you & believes in you. Enough said!

Until next time.

Blessings,

  4. This is beautiful, Lisi! Reminds me of the scripture that says "If God is for us, who can be against us?" (Romans 8:31)

  5. I like how your friend took a different spin on the Gandhi quote. God does believe in us, oftentimes more than we believe in ourselves!
