Football Girl

Did I ever mention that I’m a girl who loves football?  It started early—watching professional games with my family growing up.  I didn’t always understand the games and what was going on, but I loved the time we spent together.  These are some of my favorite memories.

In high school, I was part of the marching band.  That’s where I really began to understand football—offense, defense, plays, positions, and scoring.  We had to know what was happening on the field so we’d know when (and why) to play our fight song.  My marching band experience deepened my appreciation for football.

In college, I volunteered with a recruitment group that helped bring high school players to our team.  I loved meeting the recruits, talking with their families, and sharing details about our college.  Many of those players went on to the NFL—and I made lifelong friends during that time too.  My love for college football naturally grew into a love for professional football.

My favorite team? The Pittsburgh Steelers.
It started with Troy Polamalu.  I was fascinated by how he played—and how no one ever touched that beautiful hair!  (His shampoo commercials were good too!)  While I’m loyal to the Steelers, I cheer for a few other teams too.

A few years back, I crossed something off my bucket list—attending my first NFL game on and for my birthday.  The energy, the crowd, the atmosphere were memorable!  I couldn’t wait to attend another game.  Well, the wait is over: next month, my husband and I are going to attend to a preseason Steelers game!  Yes, I’m still excited despite the quarterback situation (if you know, you know!).

So why am I sharing all of this?
Because this is your gentle reminder to do the things on your list.  Don’t wait for the “perfect” moment or time to arrive.  Sometimes, we just have to step out—and everything else aligns.  Life is moving fast. God designed us to work, but also to enjoy this life.

We’re reminded in God’s word, Ecclesiastes 3:13 (NLT): And people should eat and drink and enjoy the fruits of their labor, for these are gifts from God.

Enjoy the gifts God has given you—some are fleeting, some last a lifetime.  We don’t know what tomorrow holds; what we do know is that we have the gift of today and it matters.

Go ahead—make the plans.  Do the thing.  You deserve it.

Until next time. 💛🖤

Blessings,
