Daily Scriptures 12/4/12

Scripture: Isaiah 49:8 Thus says the LORD: “In an acceptable time I have heard You, And in the day of salvation I have helped You; I will preserve You and give, You As a covenant to the people, To restore the earth, To cause them to inherit the desolate heritages (NKJV)

Nugget: Do you ever have the feeling that you’re supposed to be somewhere else? Doing something else? Does it feel as if you’re not exactly where God wants you to be? At least, not just yet; it’s as if you’re in preparation for the next thing to come.

These are feelings that I’ve had in recent months; the hard part is, waiting on God’s timing & allowing preparation to occur. However, God’s timing is just that—His timing. We must know that anything He’s doing is for an intended purpose & plan. There’s nothing that we’re experiencing that He isn’t a part of.

As you pray & wait on God to allow His will for your life to come into being, do not lose faith in yourself & most importantly, in Him. He is preserving us & preparing us for our inheritance to come!

Quote: “Delays are not refusals; many a prayer is registered, and underneath it the words: “My time is not yet come.” God has a set time as well as a set purpose, and He who orders the bounds of our habitation orders also the time of our deliverance.” -Anonymous

Daily Scriptures 1/24/12

Scriptures: I Samuel 17:4 & 48-49 4Then Goliath, a Philistine champion from Gath, came out of the Philistine ranks to face the forces of Israel. He was over nine feet tall! 48As Goliath moved closer to attack, David quickly ran out to meet him. 49Reaching into his shepherd’s bag and taking out a stone, he hurled it with his sling and hit the Philistine in the forehead. The stone sank in, and Goliath stumbled and fell face down on the ground. (NLT)

Nugget: Goliath was a giant that no one could defeat; he was a 9-foot tall, champion that everyone was afraid of. The people were looking for someone to defeat him. In comes David, a shepherd’s boy with a sling shot & a stone. David had the heart, faith, & courage to fight & defeat Goliath.

That’s the way we should be with the giants in our lives. Sometimes, we let the obstacles, challenges, & “Goliaths” of our lives beat us down, get us down, & defeat us. But we need the same faith as David—-he faced a 9-feet tall giant, that no one else could defeat, with his faith in God—knowing that everything would be okay.

What Goliaths are you giving power to? Where’s your faith, sling shot, & stone!!??

Quote: “David was not afraid of Goliath for he saw God as more powerful than the giant.” -Max Lucado
