Daily Scriptures 1/18/12

Scriptures: Ruth 2:2-3&5 2And Ruth the Moabite said to Naomi, “Let me go to the fields and pick up the leftover grain behind anyone in whose eyes I find favor.” Naomi said to her, “Go ahead, my daughter.” 3So she went out, entered a field and began to glean behind the harvesters. As it turned out, she was working in a field belonging to Boaz, who was from the clan of Elimelek. 5Boaz asked the overseer of his harvesters, “Who does that young woman belong to?” (NIV)

Nugget: Many of us have heard the story of Ruth & Boaz, however, no matter how many times we hear it, it appears that we miss something. Most times, we hear of “Ruth finding her Boaz”. In reality, Boaz found his Ruth.

Ruth was busy working in the fields, picking up leftover grain for her & Naomi to eat. In the meantime, Boaz observed her from far off & he asked his foreman about Ruth. He asked about her, not the other way around.

We, as women, must remember the order of things—if a man is interested in you, he will inquire about you. There’s no need to do the chasing, inquiring, etc. When a man sees someone he’s interested in, he will ask & do the work to get to know the person & to make his interest known.

Remember to keep things in order—Boaz found his Ruth!

  1. I'm old fashioned in the sense that I believe the man is supposed to be the aggressor. It's such a great feeling to have a man pursue me.
