Daily Scriptures 11/2/11

Scripture: Philippians 3:1 Whatever happens, my dear brothers and sisters, rejoice in the Lord. I never get tired of telling you these things, and I do it to safeguard your faith. (NLT)

Nugget: Encouragement—we all need it. God definitely provides this through Pastors, sermons, friends, family, etc. The people & things we receive encouragement from are a consistent part of our lives—we receive this encouragement to continue on the road Christianity & to build our faith.

Never get tired of encouraging another person; encourage them in the same manner as those who encourage you. We should be there for each other; the challenges of life will always be present, but there is power in the words we speak to one another!

Quote: “To do something, however small, to make others happier and better, is the highest ambition, the most elevating hope, which can inspire a human being.” -John Lubbock

Daily Scriptures 1/12/11

Scriptures: Genesis 31:1-2 1But Jacob soon learned that Laban’s sons were grumbling about him. “Jacob has robbed our father of everything!” they said. “He has gained all his wealth at our father’s expense.” 2And Jacob began to notice a change in Laban’s attitude toward him. (NLT)

Nugget: Jacob worked hard for everything he earned from Laban; however, Laban & his sons were bitter towards Jacob because of the growth he had & his progression. It’s a sad thing to work so hard for something, have people witness your struggle, & then be jealous of you when God blesses you & brings things to pass. As sad as this is, it’s the reality of many situations & relationships we come across.

Everyone who says that he/she is in your corner isn’t necessarily in your corner. Some people are around you for all of the wrong reasons. Always stay prayerful & have the discernment that God has given you about those you have around you!!

Quote: “It is in the character of very few men to honor without envy a friend who has prospered.” -Aeschylus
