Daily Scriptures 2/19/15

Scriptures: Matthew 13:3-8 3Then he told them many things in parables, saying: “A farmer went out to sow his seed. 4As he was scattering the seed, some fell along the path, and the birds came and ate it up. 5Some fell on rocky places, where it did not have much soil. It sprang up quickly, because the soil was shallow. 6But when the sun came up, the plants were scorched, and they withered because they had no root. 7Other seed fell among thorns, which grew up and choked the plants. 8Still other seed fell on good soil, where it produced a crop—a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown. (NIV)

Nugget: Jesus used various parables to explain things to people. In this parable, he gave an example of seeds being provided & what was done with them. Some of the seeds were scattered, others landed in rocky places, some fell in thorns, & others landed on good soil.

What an example to explain what many are doing on a daily basis. Are we using the gifts, talents, & blessings that God has given us or are we letting them fall by the wayside? Could there be seeds that we are giving away, or even letting slip away?

A friend posed a question to us the other day, “Where are you going?” The question was to allow us to refocus on what is important in the midst of running throughout our daily lives.

This question brought another question to mind, not only where are we going, but “What are we doing with what God has provided to us; are we planting on solid ground?”
