Scripture: Exodus 14:8 The LORD hardened the heart of Pharaoh king of Egypt, so that he pursued the Israelites, who were marching out boldly. (NIV)
Nugget: Most of us have heard the story of Moses asking the king to ‘let my people go.” Moses was doing what God told him to do in leading the Israelites to the Promised Land. However, we can overlook that God hand His hand on Pharaoh too; God had hardened Pharaoh’s heart towards Moses & the Israelites. This definitely brings upon questions: Why would God not just free Moses & his people? Why have them go through all of this? God could have easily changed the situation & eliminated all that Moses & the Israelites experienced, but He didn’t.
We can ask God the same questions about our own experiences, challenges, etc. But without most of these occurring, we wouldn’t grow, get into the word, or even know God as much. There are some things that God is allowing to happen for us because without these ‘growing pains’, we have to admit, we wouldn’t be as far along in our faith walk or in our relationship with Him.
