Happy 2018!!!

Happy New Year!!!  Here we are at the beginning of 2018.  The first page of a 365 page book that we have the blessing to see.  There’s so much we can do & experience this year.  Most times, we begin the New Year with resolutions of things we didn’t accomplish the previous year, or with resolutions for things we would love to accomplish for new dreams & goals.

Something came to mind when I began to think about the things I have yet to accomplish; whether this is based upon time, life occurrences, or other things, there’s a reason for these not happening or being reached.  BUT what if the #1 reason is our own thoughts & mindsets?  In saying this, I was listening to a sermon from T.D. Jakes the other day & he mentioned that although the New Year is upon us, it’s not just about it being a New Year, but about us having a new mindset. What’s the point in starting a New Year, being excited, but carrying baggage from the past year that does not need to go with us into this new part of our journey?  If we’re excited about this New Year, we must also be dedicated to having a new mindset & seeking God through this process like never before; because we all know that the ‘little voice’ of whatever was hindering us can turn its ugly head!  This is something we do not need to give power and/or energy to!

Every year I choose Anchor Verses to guide me throughout the year; they are verses that I focus on, pray about, & have as reminders to help me along the way. For 2018, I’m including one from 2017 & a new one as well:

  • “Pray without ceasing” -I Thessalonians 5:17 (NKJV)
  • “Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us” -Ephesians 3:20 (NKJV)

There are many things that I’m seeking for myself that I know will only come from God; of course, I have to do my part (faith without works is dead — see James 2:14), continue to spend time with Him, & be open to the lessons that He’s putting in my life that allow me to grow & stretch beyond anything I could imagine.

New Year, new mindset!!  Keep the faith & give it over to God.  2018 is the year of new beginnings, resurrection, & regeneration!!  Thank you, Lord!

Until next time.

Blessings,
