For My Singletons: Pt. 10

Okay Singletons, I have a story for you. I was invited to a get-together during the Labor Day weekend & was put on the spotlight. When I say “spotlight”, I really mean it!

At this particular get-together, I was part of a set-up that I knew nothing about. Meaning, walking into this blind as a bat. A friend wanted me & this young man to meet, but we had no idea that this was part of the get-together. Needless to say, I was at a loss for words (which is very rare for me!). The evening went on with hints & so-forth about “us” & what we thought of each other. Not to mention the various questions that were thrown at him regarding his life & background. I didn’t get a chance to speak to him during the whole evening; everyone was looking & staring, trying to figure out what I “thought”. AND when it was time to go, the hostess states, “Oh, I didn’t get the chance to formally introduce you two.” LOL. Wow.
Most of my friends know me well enough to know that I don’t like being set-up. Especially when it’s something like the situation I experienced over the weekend. It would’ve been easier to have a get-together & let everyone enjoy themselves & go with the flow. I know everyone meant well, but I think some should take into consideration what it’s like to be in the spotlight & be the single one at that! As I definitely did not intend to go into this one expecting this scenario.
Okay matchmakers, remember this story when you do your planning! Think of how you would feel in the other person’s shoes. There are many possible outcomes to this one, but no one wants to go into a situation blind with 20 questions going on along with “all eyes on me.” Plus, it may be deemed desperate (which I’m not). On another note, the young man seemed really nice & would probably be a friend. There’s a silver lining somewhere in this & I will always have a story to reflect on!! LOL.
Until next time.
Blessings,
