For the past few months or so, I’ve learned the importance of investing in me. It’s still a work in process, but I’m getting there. I’ve had close friends & family remind me how important it is to take the time for myself, to take time away with God, & to meditate on His will & way for my life.
I’m one of those people who takes time for other people, whether it’s to listen or to lend a helping hand, my friends & family will definitely describe me as one who’s dependable & there no matter what. However, sometimes, it’s so easy for us to get caught up in other people & their goings-on, that we can forget the importance of us!
There’s definitely nothing wrong with being there for others, but are we there for the #1 individual in our lives—ourselves? As one of my friends tells me, “Lisi, even on the airplane, in the event of an emergency, they ask you to put on your own mask first before helping someone else.” This is so very true!! How can we help someone else, if we ourselves are not in the place where we’ve helped ourselves first?
Take time to begin with you! Work on yourself, take time with God, & grow & invest in YOU!! In all that is going on, don’t forget how important you are.
