Time

Most of us have heard the saying, “Time heals all wounds.” Isn’t it amazing how easy this saying rolls off of our tongue until we’re in a situation where we have to face it?

I recently posted that my Grandpa passed away. It’s still surreal to me. At first, I thought I would be able to handle my feelings well; meaning, I would be able to handle things & continue to move forward. However, what I’ve learned is that the grieving process brings on a different set of emotions. These emotions can range anywhere from remembering the happy times to crying about the happy times & the conversations my Grandpa & I have had. I also find myself crying out of nowhere. Something will trigger tears. This has shown me the importance of letting my feelings out & allowing the emotions to run their course.

What I’ve learned during this all: you never get over someone passing on. You learn to keep going, but the person will always be a part of you, both in your heart & in your spirit. Additionally, the person would not want us to be sad about them leaving us, but would want us to enjoy the time we have left on Earth, while remembering & rejoicing in the good times we’ve had with them.

God has also presented me with other realities I must face; these aren’t good or necessarily bad, but things that God intends for me to grow from. I can’t say that it is an easy process, but I’m definitely not where I used to be!

I usually write about time in the context of appreciating each moment & how precious it is (I definitely believe in this), but I also want to point out the importance of time & how we must allow ourselves time, period. It can be anything from the time to grieve, to the time to take time for ourselves, to time to do absolutely nothing. Whatever this “time” is for you, use it & know the purpose behind it.

In the midst of everything, God is always working everything out for our good.

Until next time.

Blessings,

  1. Love is stronger than death! I lost my sister almost 5 years ago and a brother 8 years ago and there are days when I cry like it just happened. So you are so right about them always being a part of us… God will continue to give you strength.
