In some recommended readings from a friend, I came across Pearl Cleage’s “I Wish I Had a Red Dress”. The main character mentioned this, “The beginning of doubt is the absence of faith”. I pondered on this quote & decided to write it down for later 🙂
Needless to say, the later is now because I wanted to bring it up! So, where does the doubt step in for most of us? It’s when we don’t see what’s going on behind the scenes in God’s work. We will never truly see what He’s up to, however, we must have the faith to know that He’s working anyways; “Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen” (Hebrews 11:1).
Is your doubt causing your faith to disappear? Is your doubt superseding your faith? Well, this isn’t how things are supposed to be; not when you’re believing in something that you know only God can do & only God can bring to pass. This is what makes testimonies so important & imperative to share w/ others. Because once you reach the point where you know the only one who could’ve done this great thing for you was God, it’s when you really want to share it w/ everyone. It’s the thing that you want to share because only God could’ve done it, only God could’ve gotten you through!!!
So what’s the point in doubting when you know that God is at work on your behalf? What’s the point in decreasing your faith when you know that God is up to something? What’s the point in letting these contrary thoughts take over when you know faith is the key?
Don’t let your doubt or the doubt of others keep you from what God has in store for you. Keep your faith intact & know that anything other to the contrary of faith is doubt.
