Daily Scriptures 8/19/09

Scripture: Proverbs 18:15 The heart of the prudent getteth knowledge; and the ear of the wise seeketh knowledge.

Nugget: The wise man seeks knowledge through listening. It’s so simple but yet so difficult for us to do. Why? You go to see an expert on some topic, and the first thing you want to do is share your perspective on the topic. Gosh! Are you kidding me? This is an expert. Won’t your time be better spent just listening to what they have to say? Worst case, it’s nothing groundbreaking and you discard; or it’s great and you learn a lot. However, most of us just like hearing the sounds of our own voices. God help us to listen!

Quote: “God gave us two ears and one mouth for a reason. Perharps we should listen twice as much as we talk.” – Joyce Meyer

  1. You are so right! One of the hardest lessons for me to have learned (and I still struggle from time to time), is to keep my mouth shut and my heart and ears open!
