Scriptures: I Samuel 13:8-10 8And he tarried seven days, according to the set time that Samuel had appointed: but Samuel came not to Gilgal; and the people were scattered from him. 9And Saul said, Bring hither a burnt offering to me, and peace offerings. And he offered the burnt offering. 10And it came to pass, that as soon as he had made an end of offering the burnt offering, behold, Samuel came; and Saul went out to meet him, that he might salute him.

Nugget: Samuel told Saul to wait and not make a burnt offering until he arrives. Saul waited 7 days and felt he was losing control (the people scattered from him), so he went ahead and made the offering. As soon as he made the offering, Samuel shows up. Just as it is with our lives – the minute we “give up and give in” on that thing God promised us, the long awaited thing arrives; but unfortunately we no longer qualify. We must pray for perseverance; for God to give us grace to endure and to hold out for what he has promised us – even when it looks unlikely and unrealistic – cause it’s precisely at that moment, the promise will show up.
