A Day with the Students

Yesterday I chaperoned for my friend’s class trip to USF (the University of South Florida) & Busch Gardens. She teaches for a middle school, so the students are in grades 6-8. I had a great time! Just to see life through the eyes of a student again was so interesting. Many of the students wouldn’t have had this experience if it was not for this trip; as the students are a part of a program that enables them to learn about college, college life, and the steps to get into college.
At USF, we received a tour of the campus and learned more about the university. I have to say, the tour & the USF staff were very accommodating to the students, their questions, & their overall experience. The students received much needed information regarding college & campus life. They even received a tour of the dorms (which some were very surprised about the surroundings & what college life consists of!). I can completely understand their awe, because their experience made me flashback to my college tour trips years ago 🙂
At Busch Gardens, the students rode every ride in the park!! They (we) literally shut the park down! LOL. They did get me on a roller coaster & for some reason, this was the longest roller coaster in the park & the one that everyone remembers the most! It was no joke.
I truly enjoyed this experience. It reminds me of my past experiences & growing up with the desire to attend college & to gain the experience necessary to get there. In this manner, my background has similarities to theirs. I pray for these students & other students out there because even today’s times are different than those I grew up living (which was not too long ago at all!). May we be the encouragement & examples these students need in order to achieve their dreams & goals.
Until next time.
Blessings,
