Daily Scriptures 9/15/10

Scriptures: Psalm 30:11-12 11You turned my wailing into dancing; you removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy, 12that my heart may sing to you and not be silent. O LORD my God, I will give you thanks forever. (NIV)

Nugget: Growing up, I remember adults saying, “Prayer changes things” and “God is in control.” It wasn’t until I got “older” that I realized what they truly meant.

Have you ever had that situation where you felt you couldn’t get past it? Or the situation that weighed at your heart heavily? Or, for parents, the child that you constantly prayed for, where it looked as if nothing was happening? These are the types of situations that bring wailing and heaviness in our lives.

Looking back on these situations, now that God has handled them, we realize that God has turned the wailing into dancing and has made the heart sing! No one but GOD can do this. We can now praise Him because He brought us through (or we can praise Him through the situations we’re experiencing). Only God can turn wailing into joy! Now get your “praise on”!

Quote: “God turns you from one feeling to another and teaches you by means of opposites, so that you will have two wings to fly – not one.” -Rumi
