Scriptures: Obadiah 1:3-4 3The pride of your heart has deceived you, you who live in the clefts of the rocks and make your home on the heights, you who say to yourself, ‘Who can bring me down to the ground?’ 4Though you soar like the eagle and make your nest among the stars, from there I will bring you down,” declares the LORD. (NIV)
Nugget: When reading this scripture, the saying, “The same people you see on your way up, you’ll see on your way back down” comes to mind. Pride & loftiness can be the downfall of man; especially those who believe they have received everything they’ve worked for “on their own”. When in reality, all that we have & all that we do is because of God’s mercy & grace.
God can give & He can take away; don’t let pride be your downfall. Give thanks to God in all things; acknowledge His blessings & presence. Don’t take for granted what He’s done, because just as God’s blessing is like no other, God’s wrath is just as strong!
Quote: “The wrath of God is a way of saying that I have been living in a way that is contrary to the love that is God. Anyone who begins to live and grow away from God, who lives away from what is good, is turning his life toward wrath.” -Joseph Ratzinger
