Scripture: Matthew 4:1 Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. (NKJV)
Nugget: Sometimes our struggles & problems can become overwhelming. For me, when this happens, of course I pray, but then I begin to think on the power I have in Jesus; the power He has to change things to work in my favor. I also begin to reflect on the fact that there’s “nothing new under the sun”. Whatever we may be facing, Jesus has faced too (or has faced something similar or relatable). This scripture points out that He was to be tempted by the devil.
Yes, Jesus faced temptations & other struggles; however, it’s how He handled these instances that we must focus on. He had faith that God would bring Him through; He had knowledge of & knew God’s word in order to combat what He was facing. Jesus knew the power He had & acted on this power.
Most times we don’t know the power we have in God & His word; we forget the example that Jesus set for us. Let us not so easily give up or get discouraged—God loves us too much for us to be discouraged by the challenges we face. Don’t relinquish the power & praise you have to these challenges, use power & praise to face them & to overcome them.
Quote: “Jesus spoke the Word of God throughout His ministry. When faced with the devil’s lies and temptations, He countered with the truth of God’s Word. The spoken Word of God is like a living, powerful sword in our mouths (Hebrews 4:12), and if Jesus depended upon it to face challenges in life, so can we.” -Mary Fairchild
