Daily Scriptures 1/13/14

Scripture: Deuteronomy 10:15 Yet the LORD chose your ancestors as the objects of his love. And he chose you, their descendants, above all other nations, as is evident today. (NLT)

Nugget: I thank God for my ancestors; they laid the foundation for me & my faith. When I didn’t have a close relationship with God, the foundation was laid for me to develop one with Him. This was based upon those who came before me & those who had relationships with God long before I was a thought to my parents.

I think about my grandmother who I went to church with; even if I didn’t understand everything, I was happy to be there. I think about my grandpa who I would talk to every Sunday about church, God’s word, & prayer. I miss them & those days, & always hold them dearly.

Many of what we have & are experiencing are because of the love God had for our ancestors & their obedience. Thank God for being descendants of them. Without them, where would we be?

Quote: “To acknowledge our ancestors means we are aware that we did not make ourselves, that the line stretches all the way back, perhaps to God; or to Gods. We remember them because it is an easy thing to forget: that we are not the first to suffer, rebel, fight, love and die. The grace with which we embrace life, in spite of the pain, the sorrow, is always a measure of what has gone before. ” -Alice Walker
