Scripture: Psalm 61:1 Hear my cry, O God; listen to my prayer. (NIV)
Nugget: In reading a Beth Moore devotional the other day, I came across a statement she made about believing in God versus believing God. I pondered this for a little bit; wasn’t this the same thing? Definitely not. There are many who believe in God, but do they/we/us also believe Him for what He says He’ll do in our lives, for us, & through us? For instance, many people “go to church”, but where are their hearts? It’s definitely easy for many to go through the motions, but are the motives clear?
When we seek God & cry out to Him, do we believe that He will listen to & adhere to our prayers, etc.? Or do we only believe that He’s there as we call? Yes, God is there whenever we call, but why call upon Him if we do not believe Him for what He said He will do?
Go beyond believing in God; develop a relationship & connection with Him to believe Him, all that He is, & all that He promises.
Quote: “I didn’t ask you to believe in Me. I asked you to believe Me.” God interrupted my comfortable pace with the theme of belief. Think of any stronghold you face. Does your stronghold require more power than it takes to raise the dead? I don’t think so. God can do it, fellow believer.” -Beth Moore
