Scripture: John 17:15 I do not pray that You should take them out of the world, but that You should keep them from the evil one. (NKJV)
Nugget: Jesus was talking to God in this verse & throughout this chapter about His disciples & believers. Jesus knew that part of His purpose was to instill God’s word in those around Him & to be an example of God on earth. Jesus gave the disciples & believers what was needed to continue on as He wouldn’t always be around.
Jesus knew that they couldn’t be taken out of the world or avoid what struggles/challenges/doubt/etc. to come, but His prayer was for protection—knowing that He’d provided what was needed in order to endure these things. It’s the same way with us—we’re given what we need daily to face what comes our way. God didn’t promise we wouldn’t face difficulties, but He did promise to take care of us & to be there every step of the way. This was even one of Jesus’ prayers!
