Daily Scriptures 3/3/16

Scriptures: Mark 10:50-52 50And he, casting away his garment, rose, and came to Jesus. 51And Jesus answered and said unto him, What wilt thou that I should do unto thee? The blind man said unto him, Lord, that I might receive my sight. 52And Jesus said unto him, Go thy way; thy faith hath made thee whole. And immediately he received his sight, and followed Jesus in the way.

Nugget: In the scriptures prior to these, blind Bartimaeus was sitting by the highway begging. When he heard that Jesus was going by, Bartimaeus began calling out to Jesus, in order to be healed. He was making so much noise that many were telling him to be quiet. This didn’t stop Bartimaeus. He got Jesus’ attention.

What stood out for me about Bartimaeus is that he didn’t care what people were telling him, he kept calling out, he cast away his garments, & he came to Jesus. Then Jesus questioned him about what he wanted & Bartimaeus didn’t hesitate to say “Lord, that I might receive my sight”. Jesus didn’t waste any time & immediately healed Bartimaeus.

This is how we must be, having that unwavering faith & be so zeroed in on Jesus that nothing can take or shake our attention. How often do we get side tracked by others, our own thoughts (that are in the wrong direction), or even our circumstances?

Even Bartimaeus “saw” Jesus before he received physical sight. What’s hindering us from seeing Jesus too?
