Scripture: Proverbs 23:22 Listen to your father, who gave you life, and don’t despise your mother when she is old. (NIV)
Nugget: At times growing up, we feel our parents just don’t get it. They have no clue what we are going through, times have changed, we are different/unique, and the story goes on. But as we grow older, we realize that they actually do know quite a bit. It’s probably a combination of age and self awareness that brings us to this point. Either way, whichever point you may be in – realize that most parents truly look out for your best interest (despite the somewhat annoying delivery method – lol), and are giving you sound judgment based on experience. At the end of the day, you alone must make your choices and be accountable for them, but do listen to the advice of your parents and let it hold weight in your decision process.
