Daily Scriptures 6/22/16

Scriptures: I Samuel 18:7-9 7So the women sang as they danced, and said: Saul has slain his thousands, And David his ten thousands.” 8Then Saul was very angry, and the saying displeased him; and he said, “They have ascribed to David ten thousands, and to me they have ascribed only thousands. Now what more can he have but the kingdom?” 9So Saul eyed David from that day forward. (NKJV)

Nugget: In the moment where David was receiving praises for his accomplishments, King Saul became jealous of him. Before this, King Saul had moved David into his home & David was a trusted servant; he was even a close friend of Saul’s son, Jonathan.

But something changed in Saul’s heart when David continued to walk in his purpose & received the attention that Saul himself wanted. Isn’t this how things happen sometimes? People who were in your corner when things were on the same “playing field” were okay with you, but when God starts to elevate you, there’s a shift in the friendship/relationship/etc. where jealously can appear. Little do they know that God’s hand is in your life & they are letting the spirit of jealousy or enviousness take over.

Some people who’ve walked with you as part of your journey aren’t meant to be with you the entire journey. Basically, everyone can’t go with you to the next level God is preparing you for. If you see “Sauls” in your circle, examine these relationships & see what God tells you about moving forward without them. What He has next is more than you can imagine.

Quote: “Jealously is the worst trait in any person.” –Adam DeVine
