Daily Scriptures 6/1/15

Scriptures: Luke 24:36-38 36While they were still talking about this, Jesus himself stood among them and said to them, “Peace be with you.” 37They were startled and frightened, thinking they saw a ghost. 38He said to them, “Why are you troubled, and why do doubts rise in your minds? (NIV)

Nugget: Although Jesus told the disciples everything that would happen to Him for the crucifixion, when He appeared to them afterwards, they still had doubts. They still were going over the events of what happened to Jesus; He’d even appeared to them before, broke bread with them, & vanished. The doubts continued to linger. In these scriptures Jesus reappeared to them & their reactions remained doubt & fear.

How many times has God revealed Himself to us through answered prayers, direction, sermons, encouragement, etc.? But we choose to ignore the answers & confirmations that He sent due to our own doubts & fears, especially when He provided the answers so plainly? Most times, He & the answers we seek are right there, but we’re blocking the answers due to our clouded vision or thoughts.

If Jesus asked you, “Why are you troubled & why do you have doubts?”, what would your response be?

Quote: “What is down inside you? What would you do if you had no fear? Whatever your answer is, that’s what fear is holding you back from.” -Unknown
