For My Singletons, Pt. 5
These past few months seem to have consisted of random guys approaching me. I’m not sure what’s going on, but I know that this must mean that God is truly working on my Boaz.
I’m trying to figure out if chivalry has died. I am saying this because the guys who are approaching me have nothing to offer: no one has extended a dinner invitation, but wanted to come over to my place to “hang out” (which was not happening), no one has offered to open a door for me, but wanted to take me to some discount event that equated to him not spending a dime (now, I’m not over getting into stuff for free, but what about the free Jazz concerts the local radio station puts on?!), & I could go on & on with this list.
But what happened to those men (I say men because the ones who have approached me have been boys) who want to open the door for you, who want to take you out to dinner to get to know you, & not the ones who just want to go to the movies (where you really cannot have a conversation)? I know these rare men are out there, just like us rare women are. Because believe me, when I mention that I have no children, everyone is surprised; so I know those rare men are having the same thing happen to them.
I think the thing to do is, is to change my environment. Sometimes, it’s just the surroundings we’re in. Start going to events where people who have the same interests as you will be; try something different & think outside of the box. Don’t just settle for the “same ‘ol, same ‘ol”.
I know that God continues to work. I pray He keeps molding me as He works on my Boaz!

Great post! I completely agree with your suggestion about changing our environment. I think sometimes we get stuck in the same rut and we have to step outside of our comfort zones and try something new. If we want to attract different people, we have to do different things.
It’s important to have people in your life that will challenge you to stretch and grow. Someone who will make you want to live a better life for God; someone who will make you want more out of life; someone who will make you reach for your dreams; someone who will stimulate your mind; someone who is articulate and capable of having an intelligent conversation.
Just thinking out loud….
