Daily Scriptures 9/23/09

Scripture: Genesis 43:14 And may God Almighty grant you mercy before the man so that he will let your other brother and Benjamin come back with you. As for me, if I am bereaved, I am bereaved.” (NIV)

Nugget: At times, we all must get to the point of “If I perish, I perish” in order to move forward. Jacob was in a situation where he had lost Joseph, his beloved son, and now was being asked to send Benjamin (his other beloved son) to Egypt with the possibility that he might not return. However, they were in the midst of a famine, and the only way to get food was to send Benjamin on this trip. That’s life at times. We get to a crossroad where all the options look crappy, but look again – they say opportunity usually lies at the curve of crisis, and at times it just requires having some faith. God help our faith.
