Scriptures: I Samuel 17:33,36-37 33And Saul said to David, Thou art not able to go against this Philistine to fight with him: for thou art but a youth, and he a man of war from his youth. 36Thy servant slew both the lion and the bear: and this uncircumcised Philistine shall be as one of them, seeing he hath defied the armies of the living God. 37David said moreover, The LORD that delivered me out of the paw of the lion, and out of the paw of the bear, he will deliver me out of the hand of this Philistine. And Saul said unto David, Go, and the LORD be with thee.

Nugget: David was disqualified by Saul based on his “inexperience”. However, it is interesting to note that at times it’s not your “technical experience” that qualifies you, but your experiences with God. David was confident he could defeat Goliath because a) he could recall past victories that God had enabled b) he knew based on covenant that Goliath should be defeated because he was defying God’s army.

We need to be like David and learn to trust God more. First, locate the promise of God that speaks to our situation; and secondly, recall God’s faithfulness in previous situations and build up our faith and assure ourselves that if God did it then, he can surely do it again.
