Daily Scriptures 5/31/12

Scriptures: John 4:25-26 25The woman said, “I know the Messiah is coming—the one who is called Christ. When he comes, he will explain everything to us.” 26Then Jesus told her, “I AM the Messiah!” (NLT)

Nugget: In these scriptures, the Samaritan woman was drawing water from a well & had been talking with Jesus during the process. Their conversation had been going on for a little bit & they had been discussing the woman’s past, actions, etc. (John 4:7-24).

In reading these scriptures, one of the things that jumped out at me that hadn’t before was that the woman was talking to Jesus, He was right in her presence, & she initially didn’t know it—until He pointed it out to her.

How many times have we done the same thing? We’re looking for answers, searching all around us, & ignoring the fact that Jesus is there with us at all times—ready, willing, & able to help. We may seek answers in other things & people, going to Him last. I’m learning, & continuing to learn, that He should be our first stop! We should seek Him first in all things.

Let us not be blind to the fact that Jesus is with us at all times; we have to be willing & ready to acknowledge Him & His presence in our lives.

Quote: “Just remaining quietly in the presence of God, listening to Him, being attentive to Him, requires a lot of courage and know-how.” -Thomas Merton
