Scriptures: Luke 9:59&62 59He said to another person, “Come, follow me.” The man agreed, but he said, “Lord, first let me return home and bury my father.” 62But Jesus told him, “Anyone who puts a hand to the plow and then looks back is not fit for the Kingdom of God.” (NLT)
Nugget: Following Jesus—how difficult is this for some of us to do? Jesus asked the man in this scripture to follow Him, but the man wanted to do something else first (in the scripture following this one, the other man mentioned wanted to do something else first as well). How many times have we done the same? I remember before giving my life to the Lord, I wanted to “get right”. Whatever “right” was, I could never obtain it without Him in my life!
Let’s examine our walk with the Lord; are we completing following Him? Have we truly let certain things & people go—giving ourselves to Him? We cannot follow Him & look back at the same time. We should be following Him & God; we shouldn’t be straddling the fence.
