Lesson From A Washing Machine

In the past month, my washing machine (which I’ve had less than 4 years) stopped working properly. The machine would run, but the spin cycles were not happening like they used to. I called around to a few repair people & was told that it could be this or that, but in the meantime it appeared that the repair would cost just as much as a new machine. Needless to say, I was a bit disappointed that this “new” machine had something wrong with it! However, I had options.

I ended up going to the laundry mat (with the help of a friend to find one!) to do my laundry. This didn’t bother me in the least because I was reminded of where God brought me from. I was reminded of how growing up, our machine broke at some point, & we were going to the laundry mat to do laundry for our entire family. God brought things into remembrance for me to give Him thanks & praise.

I’m beginning to never underestimate the things that God allows me to go through. Everything has a lesson and/or purpose; even if I don’t understand it at the time. In the midst of the storms I’m facing & have faced, I am learning more & more to look back to see where I came from, where I am now, & know that God is always in control. He’s handled things then & He continues to do so now.

The lesson(s) from the washing machine: thank God for where He has brought us from & where He’s taking us. Don’t get so caught up in things because they can be very temporary & will let you down, but God never will. Sometimes, He wants to remind us of just this!

Until next time.

Blessings,
