Self-Love

The value of self-love is something that I’ve learned more about in recent years.  Sometimes it’s easy to love others or focus on them more than ourselves.  For instance, how many times have we’ve been in situations where we put the needs of others first and then realized we’re bone-tired, unable to do the simplest of things for ourselves?  This is something that constantly happened with myself and others that I know.

How does the shift to self-love come without feeling guilty?  For me, this came in the realization that self-love is necessary!  It’s not something to feel guilty about, but something to apply regularly in order to be the best version of oneself which in turn allows one to be there for others.

Easy to say rather than to do, right?!

However, implementing putting self first can come in baby steps.  It could be as simple as saying “yes” to getting extra sleep when you need it to saying “no” to the extra task list item that will wipe you out.  Take the baby steps needed to put self first.

Begin this week with at least one actionable task towards self-love.  It doesn’t have to be big; it may be having the long awaited massage that you need or finishing a good book or simply being still enough to hear your own voice.

There’s nothing wrong with loving YOU first.

Until next time.

Blessings,

  1. Omg!!! How true is this! I struggle with this daily. I have no problem to do for other people, but I have to stop and remind myself to put myself first and its OK to be selfish! Thank you for this!❤
