Today is officially my 1-year running anniversary! Last year on this date, my friend & I decided to complete our 1st 5K Run cold turkey. Very little training was involved; we wanted to see “where we were starting from” in order to begin training for our 1st Half Marathon (which is later this month by-the-way). I cannot believe how fast this year has gone by!
I’ve made great improvement & achieved great goals over this past year. I’ve definitely done more things that I thought I could never do! Including completing my 1st Half Marathon before the initial 1-year date I gave myself.
So the Half this month will show me the improvement that I’ve had since this December; I’m praying that I complete it a little sooner, but if I don’t, I’ll still be happy with finishing! So in the past month, I’ve learned more about listening to my body & allowing it to recuperate from any injuries that may occur during running. I didn’t realize the surface that I ran the 1st Half Marathon in December would impact me so much, but again, I’m learning to listen to my body & to pay attention.
I have a few goals set for this year’s running as well! I’m already signed up for another half marathon in a few months as well as our running group’s goal of 1013 total miles by the end of 2013. I do feel that I’m behind in this goal though as I haven’t been able to run as much in the past month. However, EVERY mile counts!
I’m grateful to my family, friends, & running group sisters who have helped & encouraged me this past year. I also have a great running partner/friend that I’ve met through the group. I’m blessed to have good people in my life!
Pray for me as I continue on this journey; being somewhat “injured” has discouraged me some, but I will continue on (with any doctor’s orders to follow, of course!)
For 2013’s running, as my running partner & I say, we plan to “Keep It Moving”.
Until next time.
Blessings,
