Within the past year or so, my life’s journey has led me over walls & mountains to face change. It’s been as if God has orchestrated my journey to take various things head-on; these range from forgiveness to getting outside-of-the-box to doing things on my Bucket List that I’ve been putting off for years.
After “accomplishing” these things (believe me, most of them by God’s grace only—if it were up to me, I’d probably never have done them), I began to wonder what kept me from doing them in the first place. Once they are done, it has been as if a weight has been lifted from me, both physically & emotionally. So, what took me so long to “just do it”, as the old saying goes?
I’ve come to further realization that the root of many of our inactions is one simple word: FEAR. Yes, it’s a “simple” word, but the impact it has is tremendous. Fear keeps us stuck, it keeps some people in their homes afraid to have interaction with others, it even keeps some people from driving, & so much more. So if God tells us not to fear & we’re to trust Him, why do we fear anyways? Most of it is rooted in the unknown, but for me, I’ve realized that it’s attached to wanting to be in control. In wanting to be in control, this showed me that I didn’t fully let go & trust God.
So my journey has led me here…..with a stronger faith in what God can do & has done. There’s nothing He can’t do & won’t do if it’s according to His will for us. God doesn’t withhold the good from His people, but it may take time for Him to develop the good for us & in us. Just think, why would He give us something we aren’t ready for or prepare us for something that isn’t developed for us just yet? In a way, it’s like trying to go from the tricycle to the adult bike without preparation & training. Could you imagine a 3-year old on an adult bike, rather than a tricycle? Preparation & growth had to occur first.
I’m definitely still in the process of my growth journey, but can share this with you: Don’t ignore the uncomfortable places & challenges you may have to face to get to where God wants you to be. He will give you what it takes to make it through to the other side. Whether it be the right people, Bible verse, or encouraging word, there’s a purpose for it all. He’s working it out for our good!
Until next time.
Blessings,
