Scripture: Proverbs 24:29 Do not say, “I’ll do to them as they have done to me; I’ll pay them back for what they did.” (NIV)
Nugget: One of the most common reactions to when someone has done wrong to us is to retaliate in the same manner. A person would likely want the other individual to have the same hurt, pain, etc. inflicted upon the individual as well. This reaction can take both an emotional & physical toll on all involved.
“Two wrongs don’t make a right” came to mind when reading this scripture. It’s something wise adults would tell many of us growing up. Basically, do we need to go to that level too? Let’s work daily not to “do to others what they have done to us”; there are other positive things & reactions we can do instead.
Quote: “Blowing out someone else’s candle doesn’t make yours shine brighter.” -Unknown
