Scripture: Mark 9:29 So He said to them, “This kind can come out by nothing but prayer and fasting.” (NKJV)
Nugget: In the scriptures prior to this one, Jesus removed a spirit out of a person. His disciples questioned why they themselves couldn’t get the spirit out of this same person. Jesus’ response, some things come by “prayer & fasting”.
This scripture made me think about how many things we’ve missed out on, or questioned God about, & why they haven’t been received. It is possible that we haven’t received these things because we aren’t both praying and fasting. Most times, we’re probably doing one without the other, but not both. It may take both things happening to bring things into action.
In your prayer life, take time to add fasting to it. This can be a challenging act for many of us, but God calls us to do it as well. It may be the action that allows us to grow into the next level with Him & what He’s preparing us for; some things only come by prayer and fasting.
