Staying Prayed Up

In reading & watching the news, we come across a lot of bad & disappointing news; job losses, home foreclosures, & businesses closing, to say the least. In the midst of watching all of this, we rarely take time to focus on those who are still employed, those who are able to purchase homes, those who are building their families, & those who are finding jobs. I’m not belittling the impact of this economy on those who are facing losses, but trying to change the focus on some of the good that we can look at each day. In saying this, we really must stay “prayed up” for all things. Thanking God for each moment that we have, each moment that we have food to eat & a roof over our heads, & for those who are working, for those jobs we have.

I know people who are facing the tremendous loss of loved ones to those facing how their bills are going to be paid, but these same people have the best attitudes of anyone I know. They remember to thank God for what they do have & pray for strength during the difficult times.

I’m not saying that it’s easy, but am saying that in the midst of this economy, God is in control. I can say this because I know people who are also finding new jobs, buying their first home, getting new cars, & getting promotions.

For these reasons, we must stay prayed up!!! Count your blessings. You may have lost that home, but you have an apartment (think of those living on the streets or in their cars); you may have lost that job, but you found a one that pays less; you may not have all you had before or all you want, but you have health & a healthy family.

We can do all things through Christ who stengthens us (Philippians 4:13). Pray for that strength, pray for others, & look to God. Prayer & faith changes things.
