Daily Scriptures 2/21/12

Scriptures: I Kings 3:7, 9-12 7“Now, O LORD my God, you have made me king instead of my father, David, but I am like a little child who doesn’t know his way around. 9Give me an understanding heart so that I can govern your people well and know the difference between right and wrong. For who by himself is able to govern this great people of yours?” 10The Lord was pleased that Solomon had asked for wisdom. 11So God replied, “Because you have asked for wisdom in governing my people with justice and have not asked for a long life or wealth or the death of your enemies— 12I will give you what you asked for! I will give you a wise and understanding heart such as no one else has had or ever will have! (NLT)

Nugget: King Solomon knew he needed wisdom in order to rule over God’s kingdom; the thing is, Solomon knew this & knew to ask God for this wisdom. God was pleased that Solomon came to Him & asked for the wisdom needed to handle everything that was to come; God granted Solomon this wisdom & more to move forward.

We must do the same; there may be many things you do not understand, know, or have any idea about, but are you seeking God & asking for the wisdom that only He can give?  God grants prayers & goes above & beyond (just look at His response to Solomon); ask God for the wisdom you seek & an understanding heart to receive all that He has in store for you.

Quote: “Start with God – the first step in learning is bowing down to God; only fools thumb their noses at such wisdom and learning.” -King Solomon
