Fear Doesn’t Live Here

During my undergraduate college years, I was a part of this program to enhance my leadership skills. For some reason, recently, I began to reflect on my experiences in the program; it’s funny how God will bring some things back to us.

As part of this program, we took various classes regarding leadership, service, etc. At the end of one of the classes, we were to give a summary of what we’d learned during the term. I remember trying to figure out what I would discuss with my fellow classmates regarding this; I mean, what would I have used to summarize the term & my experience? One thing stood out for me, & this thing was: FEAR.

I brought up to my classmates how fear can be the thing that either hinders us or pushes us forward. It can propel us to step outside of our comfort zones or stay where we are. At the time, I was still growing in my relationship with the Lord, so I didn’t fully understand how lack of faith allowed the presence of fear to step in, but it did.

As I ponder on my thoughts back then today, it’s amazing how something will come back up when it’s time for me to step outside of my comfort zone. Of course, I’m more mature in my faith today than I was at that time, but sometimes our initial reaction is fear, & definitely fear of the unknown. But the Bible says, “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” (II Timothy 2:17) What peace this brings!

I’m happy to be in a place where I’m working more & more to replace any fears with faith. I’m happy to be reminded of where God has brought me from, knowing He can take me further than I’ve ever dreamed. Getting there will be a journey, but prayerfully & faithfully, I will lean on God’s understanding for the journey. I feel that He’s trying to teach & to tell me something; now it’s time to step out on His word & promises.

My prayer for us today is to not let fear have reign over our goals, dreams, & lives. Our God is bigger than any fear or challenge could ever imagine. So what’s holding you back?

Until next time.

Blessings,

  1. Lisi, this reminds me of the acronym F.E.A.R.: False Evidence Appearing Real. Once we recognize how false fear is, our faith kicks in and we enter the winners' zone.

  2. Hey Lisi! Yes, if allowed to, fear can and will hinder us! That's why it's so important to build our faith! Just as we feed our bodies, the only way our faith will grow is by feeding our spirit man. Thanks so much for sharing and thanks for linking up today! Have a blessed rest of your week!:-)210
