Daily Scriptures 10/30/09

Scriptures: I Samuel 17:39: And David girded his sword upon his armour, and he assayed to go; for he had not proved it. And David said unto Saul, I cannot go with these; for I have not proved them. And David put them off him.

Nugget: David was getting ready to fight Goliath, and King Saul felt it was only appropriate for him to be girded with the fanciest tools. But David said he couldn’t go with those tools, cause “he had not proved them”. Deep. Go to battle with tried and tested tools. You don’t go into the deep end with materials you haven’t tested; you don’t launch a new product with “brand new” employees (no matter how good they supposedly are); you don’t accept a role to rescue a company that is dying in an area where you have absolutely no experience; etc. Also note, you don’t choose “sophisticated” tools, even when they look better than your usual tool set, so far they haven’t been “proven”. God help us!
