Daily Scriptures 5/1/09

Scripture: Hebrews 13:15 Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise—the fruit of lips that confess his name. (New International Version)

Nugget: One thing used to confuse me about this scripture. I would ask myself, “Why would someone feel praise is a sacrifice?” Also, “What is the sacrifice of praise?” In Bible Study, my Pastor referenced this scripture.

The reason it’s considered a sacrifice is that no matter what’s going on & how hard things are, we must praise God always. We cannot let situations or circumstances block our desire to praise & to thank God. That’s why this scripture states sacrifice; the sacrifice is us sacrificing how we feel in the bad times, moving past it, & overcoming it with praise.

Quote: “Blessings we enjoy daily, and for the most of them, because they be so common, men forget to pay their praises. But let not us, because it is a sacrifice so pleasing to him who still protects us gives us and content.” –Izaak Walton
