Over the past few years, God has closed various doors in my life, both personally & professionally. In some of these instances, I cannot say that I originally saw the doors closing or that the closures would be blessings later on. Truly, how many of us can say that when God removed things or people from our lives that we saw these as blessings during those times?
In many cases, we tend to hold on, thinking that the outcomes would be different; or we hold on to what’s comfortable. In looking back now, I can, of course, see how many times God was putting up roadblocks in these relationships & occurrences, but my heart & mind wanted what they wanted! Yet, our God, had other plans, better plans. The results of the closed doors have been blessings & growth I would not have had otherwise.
Most times, it’s easy to hold on with a tight fist to what we want for ourselves, the difficulty lies in us letting go & letting God do His thing. The easy thing is to hold on to what we know: things, people, that familiar job, the same route to work, etc. (the list can go on & on). The hard thing is truly believing & committing our desires & wishes to God & His will. Why not do this if we say that we are His children & believe Him for what we’re praying for? He knows us better than anyone & knows what’s best for us.
As a New Year is quickly approaching, there should be things, people, & mindsets that we don’t carry with us. As difficult as it may be, close the doors that we want to leave open & walk through the doors that God has opened. He’s standing their waiting for us to step through them. What’s on the other side of those thresholds are only what God can create & has designed specifically for us. His will for us is beyond our imaginations. What are we waiting for? The blessings are on the other side of obedience.
Until next time.
Blessings,
