Scripture: James 5:12 But above all, my brethren, do not swear, either by heaven or by earth or with any other oath. But let your “Yes” be “Yes,” and your “No,” “No,” lest you fall into judgment. (NKJV)
Nugget: Our word is our bond. We shouldn’t say one thing & end up doing another. There is power in the words we speak, the things we promise, & what we proclaim. Just think on the times you were disappointed or hurt by someone not coming through on his/her promises; we wouldn’t want to do the same thing to someone else.
There will be times when circumstances will impact our original promise/etc., however, these changes can be communicated as well. Life happens, things happen–but do a self-check in these instances to back your word up with your actions. These should line up.
